A green approach

Natural refrigerants, environmental advantages

Within the refrigeration sector, Madefrigor is recognised as a specialist in the design and construction of efficient, reliable refrigeration systems with low operating costs, committed to sustainability and a low environmental impact.

We therefore prioritise natural refrigerants such as NH3 (ammonia or R717), CO2 (carbon dioxide or R744) and hydrocarbons (propane or R290). Natural refrigerants have zero or minimal ODP (Ozone Depletion Potential) and GWP (Global Warming Potential) values, respecting the atmospheric ozone layer and reducing global warming according to the limits established by the Kyoto protocol.

Efficient and eco-friendly systems

Ammonia, CO2 and propane systems

Specifically, Madefrigor manufactures low-charge chillers and indirect refrigeration systems, in which the NH3 (ammonia) is confined to the refrigeration unit and used to cool the carrier fluid.

We also design CO2 refrigeration systems that use carbon dioxide as the primary refrigerant in both the subcritical and transcritical cycles (direct expansion or flooded) and/or as a heat transfer fluid. Finally, we also use propane as a green refrigerant in our liquid chillers, in line with special design conditions and safety regulations.

Balancing competitiveness and the environment

Our green outlook

In recent years, Madefrigor has tackled issues relating to the type of refrigerant used in industrial refrigeration systems (direct global warming) and energy consumption (indirect global warming). Our products are therefore designed according to the green principles of greater sustainability and a reduced environmental impact.

However, the refrigerant with the lowest GWP is not necessarily the best choice in terms of optimal efficiency. We therefore draw on our 50 years of experience, technological resources and in-depth knowledge of the problems related to refrigeration to obtain the best compromise between the rational energy use and respect for the environment while staying competitive on the market.
